Magicians David

I have noticed recently how powerful the name that starts with D in the magic industry. I am also intrigued by the thought why their names start with D especially Dai Vernon, David Blaine, David Copperfield. These three have something in common. They have the same names--David. Sorry Houdini, yours is an H.

Dai Vernon

Known as "The Professor". He was born David Frederick Wingfield Verner. A misconception is that he began to use the first name "Dai" after a newspaper mistyped "David", the paper actually was using the Welsh nickname for David. When Verner first moved to the United States, the male member of a popular ice-skating pair had the surname Vernon; Americans continually mistook Verner's last name to be the same as the popular ice skater, and eventually the magician became fed up with correcting people and simply adopted "Vernon" as well. Though he was not popular to the public, he was one of the most respected magicians to his fellow magicians.

David Blaine
Popular street and close-up magician. Born David Blaine White on April 4, 1973. He was born in Brooklyn to a Jewish mother and Puerto Rican father. His mother Patrice Maureen White was a school teacher living in New York, and his father William Perez is a Vietnam veteran. He was raised by his single mother. He attended many different schools in Brooklyn. He is called as the Houdini of the present time.

David Copperfield

Born in Metuchen as David Seth Kotkin to Israeli parents, Hyman and Rivka. Copperfield began practicing magic at the age of 12, and became the youngest person ever admitted to the Society of American Magicians. He is best known for his combination of illusions and storytelling.

Should I have a David-name? I guess not. I am not yet worthy to have a David-name.
